I have to say that it can be hard to think outside the box of new side items that the kids will eat and that aren’t a huge time consumer!! I love to find side items that my kids can help me to make having them in the kitchen with me is important, I didn’t start to really cook myself until about 4 years ago and want it to be a skill they early. Plus finding dishes they can help means they are more likely to try it when they see what goes in the meal. (I have included links to some great products that can make your life easier. You can buy them through my online sales links.)
One side dish I can never go wrong with the kids is potatoes, they are always a hit with them. While I realize it may root in their love of fries but potatoes are a side dish I can make that the kids will eat!! We opted to try different potatoes by using baby red potatoes, I got lucky at a local produce stand and found an overstock sale for $.99/lb. The only tool you need to make these is a good knife, thank goodness for Amazon!! I use the reviews all the time since I am not the best at picking out kitchen equipment so I heavily rely on review ratings. I love that you can pick up a 5-star chef knife on Amazon for under $10, plus you can order one on Amazon so you don’t even have to leave the house, order and bam UPS man is at the door saving dinner time for you when you use Amazon Prime 2 day delivery! (Don’t have Prime? You NEED for easy online shopping!!)
